The Center for Girls was founded on April 15, 1998, on the initiative of two volunteers of SOS Helpline for Women and Children Victims of Violence. The aim of its foundation was to improve the social position of young women through their education and emancipation.
THE MISSION of the Center for Girls is to empower children, girls and women through support, education, activism and creativity.
The activists of the Center for Girls, Tatjana Nikolić, Mina Žikić and Sara Plazinić, were part of the theater performance "Other People's Shoes: An Aria for the Empathy" by the British theater director, Anna Furse, which talks about migrants.
The 10th Feminist Art Colony was successfully held in Sićevo. Ten artists from Croatia and Serbia participated: Mirta Brkulj (Zadar, Croatia), Lea Čepić (Rijeka, Croatia), Nataša Tomić (Belgrade, Serbia), Marija Jovanović (Belgrade, Serbia), Tatjana Marticki Cvejin Cvejin (Novi Sad, Serbia), Katarina Drenjanin (Obrenovac, Serbia), Dara Bošković (Babušnica, Serbia), Jovana Đorđević (Niš, Serbia), Mina Stefanović (Niš, Serbia) and Sanja Solunac (Belgrade, Serbia).
Another street action was held in Obrenoviceva Street in the center of Nis due the decision of the Constitutional Court to initiate the procedure for examining the constitutionality of the Gender Equality Law and to suspend its application while the procedure is in progress. We placed special emphasis on the responsibility of the Ombudsman in this shameful procedure.
