The Center for Girls was founded on April 15, 1998, on the initiative of two volunteers of SOS Helpline for Women and Children Victims of Violence. The aim of its foundation was to improve the social position of young women through their education and emancipation.
THE MISSION of the Center for Girls is girls' and young women's empowerment through education, activism and creativity.
Upon the completion of the first year of the project Active in the Struggle for Girls' Safer Life and Better Position in the Society, the activists of the Center for Girls carried out an evaluation of the project on Wednesday, March 16, 2016. On February 26, 2016, the Center for Girls organized a panel discussion called "Anti-Trafficking Action" at the packed Media and Reform Centre in Niš. The goal of this panel discussion was to raise public sensibility to the problem of human trafficking and to boost efficiency and intersectoral cooperation among the Anti-Trafficking Network and competent institutions.
Yesterday, the city of Niš joined ONE BILLION RISING, a global action organized around the world on February 14. The activists of the Center for Girls organized a street action in Zoran Đinđić Boulevard and attracted a lot of attention.
