The Center for Girls was founded on April 15, 1998, on the initiative of two volunteers of SOS Helpline for Women and Children Victims of Violence. The aim of its foundation was to improve the social position of young women through their education and emancipation.
THE MISSION of the Center for Girls is girls' and young women's empowerment through education, activism and creativity.
In the period from November 4 to 6, 2016, the meeting of the Regional Young Feminist Network (RYFN) was held in Niš. The meeting was attended by 23 young activists from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia and Serbia.
In October 2016, two workshops were held for the new activists of the Center for Girls. The workshop on the elimination of prejudices was held on October 6, and feminist notions were discussed in the workshop held on October 30.
In cooperation with EU Info Corner, the activists of the Center for Girls held a workshop on the prevention of human trafficking in the offices of EU Info Corner on October 17, 2016. The workshop was organized to commemorate October 18 – European Anti-Trafficking Day.
