The Center for Girls was founded on April 15, 1998, on the initiative of two volunteers of SOS Helpline for Women and Children Victims of Violence. The aim of its foundation was to improve the social position of young women through their education and emancipation.
THE MISSION of the Center for Girls is to empower children, girls and women through support, education, activism and creativity.
For the 7th year in the row, we held the ArtFemine festival of feminist activism and art from July 3rd through July 5th 2020 - this year under the slogan "Always Together First".
At least 15 women had been killed in partner and domestic violence in Serbia since the start of the year. We demand that femicide be recognized as a specific criminal offence - is the message of the Center for Girls feminists.
The fight for women's rights began on March 8, 1857, with a demonstration in New York when women employed in the textile industry rebelled over poor working conditions, low salaries and 10-12 working hours. Unfortunately, the struggle for economic, political and social equality between women and men continues today.
