Third ArtFemine festival organized by the Center for Girls was held from 15th to 17th of July, 2016 in Niš. From the participants who were in the previous two year's festival it has received praise and described as the best so far.
About 70 participants from Niš, the whole Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia and Kosovo participated in numerous workshops, recreation, panels, street actions, and enjoyed the show, "I am an emotional creature" by feminist art theater, girl party and the concert of the group "Žen".

On the first day of the festival were held three economically empowering workshops - making jewelry, making soap and silk painting. Then the activists from the region participated in a music workshop where they learned and perfected playing drums, and the media workshop where they were taught and practiced public appearance.

Here are some impressions from the workshop:

Workshop silk painting was beautiful. Nice, creative, colorful ... We could transfer our thoughts on a piece of silk, to try and learn to do something new. Milena guided us nicely and made the workshop relaxed and awash with positive energy.

Making soap was excellent, leaders tried hard to explain the process itself, all the details, they were patient and detailed. It's great that we got to keep the soap we made. Extremely motivating workshop.

I am delighted with the music workshop, positive energy by the participants and presenter Emina. For three hours I learned new and interesting things, met wonderful girls and women. My suggestion is that such workshops or similar should be repeated outside the festival. All positive.

The media workshop was good, I enjoyed it for three hours. I remembered that the most important is preparation. The instructor was very professional.

The first day of the festival is slowly ending, and the hellish heat was replaced in the evening with unexpected downpours which, however, did not prevent the participants to attend the play "I am an emotional creature." Semi-dry and in borrowed wardrobe participants very attentively watched the show and the day ended in the girls party with DJ Olja Wagner.

The second day of the festival began with the recreation and “Mrdaonica”. The morning was heavy with fumes of last night’s showers, but the girls did not care - They indulged, socialized and enjoyed. Here's what some participants told us:

  • Mrdaonica was refreshing, I needed it. I freed myself and enjoyed the atmosphere of love and acceptance. In Sarajevo, we do not have much of this if any, so I was twice as grateful that I was able to participate in ArtFemine.
  • Mrdaonica is great. It had emotional and therapeutic effect on me.
  • Entertainment was very good, I enjoyed it. For two years I haven’t done Pilates, so I welcomed this and it was great.

At the panel with artists / feminists / activists spoke Sara Ercegović, Doroti Packova, Marija Papić Đurić, Leila Šeper and Vera Erac about what they do, of which they live, what arethey proud of. From the panel emerged the following messages that were written in the form of banners and were shown at the street action:

  • "Despite all the difficult circumstances we always have a choice and we have the power" - Vera Erac, Belgrade
  • "We should not be afraid of change, each one is coming in the best moment" - Sara Ercegović, Zagreb
  • "Make beer, not conflict" - Leila Šeper, Sarajevo
  • "Without love, nothing" - Marija Papić Đurić, Zrenjanin
  • "Feminism is a movement for women's human rights"
  • "Begin to apply the law"
  • "Stop violence against women"

It was followed by the concert of “Žen”, which has first performed in Niš and delighted participants, those who heard them for the first time and those who have already enjoyed their live music.

On Sunday, the last day of the festival and the final gathering, for a bit longer we have spread positive energy and shared the impressions, and then we slowly said good-byes.

This is how the individual participants experienced The third ArtFemine festival:

It is the first time I attended and I am very satisfied. All participants are happy and fulfilled. It is very beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. The workshops were well-designed and included a variety of topics;

The festival filled me up... in every sense. In one day I have lived 10 days ... experienced a lot of events and positive energy;

Compliments to the whole team, all positive. I propose to organize another such festival soon (not to wait another year to do so).
