Eleven girls passed a set of the first four empowering self-defense workshops, organized by the Center for Girls as part of the project "Safe".
At the workshops, they learned how to be assertive and say no, how to be loud, to set boundaries and clearly say what they don't want and what bothers them, how to be quick, careful, how to recognize potential danger, to defend themselves verbally and physically , how to shout, run and seek help. They practiced the communicative formula, as well as five physical self-defense techniques and three punches.
During the workshop, the participants completed an anonymous survey before and after, which enabled us to gain an insight into how ready they were to defend themselves before the workshops, and how ready and confident they are after them, as well as to map the places where girls and women in Niš do not feel safe.
The project is supported by UN Women.
