The Center for Girls was founded on April 15, 1998, on the initiative of two volunteers of SOS Helpline for Women and Children Victims of Violence. The aim of its foundation was to improve the social position of young women through their education and emancipation.
THE MISSION of the Center for Girls is to empower children, girls and women through support, education, activism and creativity.

EuropeAid supported the joint project of the Center for Girls (Nis), Group 484 (Belgrade) and Romani Asvin (Kruševac), entitled "UNITE & ACT for EU": Marginalized young women empowered to engage in activism in South and East Serbia".
The Center for Girls from Niš was part of the 15th AWID Forum, held in Bangkok (Thailand), which was attended by 3,800 people from all over the world. In addition to the Center for Girls, in the group from the Balkans, there were: CURE Foundation (Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina), Women's Vision (Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina), Roma Women's Network (Serbia), Alternative Center for Girls (Kruševac, Serbia), BeFem (Belgrade, Serbia), TRAG Foundation and Reconstruction Women's Fund.
