Although the project, supported by EU PRO Plus, through which the Center for Girls financed the Children's Daycare Center has ended, the Center is still operating without funds, and continues to provide services to children who live and beg/work on the streets and/or live in poverty.
So far, 50 children have passed through the Center, and 1,544 services have been provided to them:
The Center for Girls had the opportunity to collaborate with an expert in the field of acting and drama pedagogy, Olivera Viktorović Đurašković, on the creation of a performance/play about the life of children who beg/work on the street.
Activists of the Center for Girls first received training on dramaturgical work with children, various games, techniques and methods of creating a play. Then they had the opportunity to work directly with the users of the Children's Daycare Center, both independently and together with an expert, to design and rehearse the performance/show.
This was the first time children who come to the Center met with theater, and it was especially interesting for them that in the performance/play they have the opportunity to act and thus tell their own life stories. The children were overjoyed to have the opportunity to see the theater and learn some basic things about it, as well as to feel what it's like to be on stage and act.
This project was supported by the Hartefakt fund, through the Job Shadowing program. The opinions and views expressed in the performance/show are the opinion of the authors and do not necessarily represent the opinion of the Hartefakt Fund.
You can find a video clip about the life of street children HERE.

We are happy to have exceeded our original goal and raised much more funds for the work of the Children's Day Center. Eighty-five people donated money through the platform Donacije.rs and a bank account of the Center for Girls. The number of people who donated is actually higher, because we had two larger donations in which more people employed in two companies participated.
We thank everyone who donated, but also those who shared our posts, as well as the internet portals that spread the word.
It is very important to us that you supported our work. Stay with us and follow the events at the Day Center for Children.

Every child has the right to live, to develop fully, the right to protection from harmful influences, abuse and exploitation, the right to full participation in family, cultural and social life. Unfortunately, many children in Niš cannot realize these rights. A large number of children from Niš and other cities, predominantly (but not exclusively) Roma, beg or work on the street, and there is also a large number of children living in poverty. These children are at risk of human trafficking and are deprived of the right to a free, happy and safe childhood, right to play and to study.
That is why Center for Girls launched a CHILDREN’S DAYCAE CENTER, for children who live/work/beg on the street and/or live in poverty and who are potential victims of human trafficking. The goal is to support them to learn the basics, to contribute to their empowerment to stay in the school system or go to school, and work to prevent child trafficking. The Children’s Daycvare Center is a safe place for children aged 6 to 16 years. Here children can rest, get away from the street, warm up or take shelter from rain, cold or heat, socialize, play, relax, acquire basic skills and knowledge, change clothes, bathe and eat something warm. The Children’s Daycare Center is an opportunity for them to get out of the vicious circle of violence, human trafficking and poverty – an opportunity to empower themselves and live the life they deserve.
In order for children to receive adequate support, and for the results of the fight against child trafficking to be visible, it is necessary for the work of the Day Care Center to be continuous, to have all the necessary resources, equipment and necessary capacities.
Right now we need:
Food: 104,000 RSD
Accessories for school and creative work: RSD 72,000
In order to achieve our goal, we need to collect RSD 176,000.
We need your help. Yes, just yours!
With 4,000 dinars, we will provide lunch for one child on a monthly basis.
With 6,000 dinars, we will enable the purchase of school and creative accessories for one child.
We invite you to be part of this story. Give for a house by paying on the Donacije.rs platform:

or by payment to the account of the organization: 205-221490-68.
By collecting funds, we would enable the acquisition of the above so that the children in the Day Care Center would receive a meal, support and a safe space for play and education.
