International Women’s Day March in Niš 2025
Over 5,000 people saw the International Women’s Day March, organized for the third time in Niš by the Center for Girls and the Roma Women’s Association Osvit. This year, they were joined by the Human Rights Committee Niš. The March was also supported by the Roma Women’s Association Nada from Aleksinac and the Independent Women’s Center from Dimitrovgrad.
Through a megaphone, Anabela Saćipović from Osvit and Tatjana Nikolić from the Center for Girls addressed the public.
Fifty participants walked through the central streets of Niš carrying banners that read:
Women Against Fascism; 80 Years of the Antifascist Women’s Front of Serbia; Female Students, Workers, Rural Women, Roma Women; For Women’s Human Rights; Together for: Women’s Rights, Labor Rights, Women’s Solidarity; March 8 Is Not Valentine’s Day; We Demand Women’s Work To Be Paid. For the Economic Independence of Women; Unpaid Domestic Work Is Any Work Done in the Household for Which the Person Is Not Financially Compensated; Unpaid Domestic Work Is Worth 72,000 Dinars per Month! More Feminists in Decision-Making Positions So Women’s Voices Can Be Heard; For Legal and Free Abortion; Roma Women in the Fight Against: Hate Speech, Racism, Misogyny, Femicide; We Demand That Femicide Be Recognized as a Separate Criminal Offense; Mirjana Robotka (70) – Beaten to Death by Her Son Marcika Robotka (36) – in Srbobran; Jelena Đurić (62) – Strangled by Her Son David J. (23) – in Belgrade; A.R. (48) – Stabbed to Death by Her Son Mihailo K. (21) – in Novi Sad; Stop Violence Against Girls/Women; A Woman Is Never to Blame, Responsibility Lies With the Abuser; Rape Is a Crime Without Justification; Sexual Violence Against Girls and Women Must Not Go Unpunished; Roma Women for a Society Free of Gender-Based Violence; The Only Thing That Matters Is That You’re Okay, Because You Are Not Alone; You Are Not Alone; We Believe You, We Hear You, We Understand You, We Respect Your Decisions; You Have the Right to a Life Without Discrimination; You walked 150 km, ut you stil don’t inherit; Equality is a team sport; If we can say female teacher, we can say female lawyer and a councilwoman too; If we cans ay female hairdresser, we can say female politician and a female minister too.
