Retrospective Exhibition “Feather Collectors”
The retrospective exhibition “Feather Collectors”, marking the ten-year continuity of the Feminist Art Colony in Sićevo, opened on January 29 at the Art55 Gallery in Niš and ran until February 5.
The audience was presented with a selection of 24 works created during the first decade of the colony.
The thematic scope of the works developed within the Feminist Art Colony is consistently focused on issues of the female body and sexuality, the female perspective on the world, violence against women, rebellion, solidarity, emotions, and the political dimensions of gender inequality. In the artistic field that has systemically marginalized female creation for centuries, the colony positions itself as a space of reaffirmation — a place where women create, think, feel, and speak freely. We thank everyone who attended the exhibition opening, with special gratitude to RTV Television for the media coverage of the event. More photographs can be viewed in the [Facebook album].
This summer, the 12th Feminist Art Colony will take place in Sićevo, and all interested artists are invited to follow our social media and website for the upcoming call for submissions.
The retrospective exhibition is part of the project “Empowered to Create”, supported by the Swiss Government and the Hartefakt Foundation through the “Culture for Democracy” program.
