Street action on femicide

Over 3,000 people witnessed the street action performed by activists from the Center for Girls in the center of Niš, in response to three femicides in 2025 and the most recent femicide in 2024. All four femicides were committed by sons who killed their mothers.

Femicide is the killing of a woman simply because she is a woman.
It is connected to discrimination against women, the unequal distribution of power between men and women, prejudice, and violence against women.

In Serbia, since 2010, over 400 girls and women have been murdered.
They were killed by their fathers, partners, ex-partners, brothers, grandsons, and sons.
