International Day of Action for Women’s Health and Reproductive Rights

Why does today’s day, May 28, no longer bear its full name – the International Day of Action for Women’s Health and Reproductive Rights, but the shorter one, which lacks exactly the most important thing – women’s reproductive rights?

Is the reason for this the strengthening of patriarchy around the world: Trump’s political engagement and the restriction of the right to abortion in 10 states of the USA, the almost complete abolition of the right to abortion in Poland, complete criminalization in some countries of Latin America and Africa, the increasing control of women’s reproductive rights in Hungary, kneeling in Croatia? Does this change make it clear that it’s okay to advocate for women’s reproductive health, but not for women’s reproductive rights?

Today we stood on the street to remind citizens that girls and women must retain the right to make independent decisions about their bodies. We also distributed leaflets about cervical cancer to passers-by.
